THERMAL SHOCK
The Thermal Shock Unit (TSU) is a machine with which a porous ceramic sample is regularly heated and cooled in order to test its resistance to temperature changes. A gas-fired burner provides the thermal energy. The hot exhaust gases are passed through the sample as it heats up and maintains its temperature.
The burner is turned down at freely programmable intervals, and the sample is exposed to cooling air and then heated again. During the entire process, the sample is enclosed in an adapter, which in turn is held in place by the clamping device.
